The Uttar Pradesh excise department is planning to expand premium liquor retail outlets in Noida and Ghaziabad. This initiative aims to establish these outlets in malls and large-format retail spaces while enhancing transparency through digital tracking of sales and stock movement. Subodh Kumar, the district excise officer for Gautam Budh Nagar, emphasized the importance of compliance with excise regulations and the promotion of low-alcohol categories. All retail transactions will be processed through point-of-sale (POS) systems, allowing for real-time monitoring of stock movement and sales. The excise commissioner, Adarsh Singh, indicated that strict actions will be taken against any detected violations. The department is also focusing on improving revenue collection and ensuring compliance with minimum guaranteed revenue targets for Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and beer. Additionally, there will be heightened scrutiny of liquor shipments from other states to curb unauthorized sales. This comprehensive strategy reflects the department's commitment to modernizing liquor sales and enhancing regulatory compliance in the region.
