In Noida, the Uttar Pradesh excise department received a total of 360 applications for 11 liquor shops during the fifth phase of its e-lottery, which took place at the Surajpur Collectorate. Officials project nearly ₹50 crore in revenue from licence fees and minimum guaranteed revenue collections. The allotment process included one existing country liquor shop, five newly created country liquor shops, three existing model shops, and two newly created model shops. District excise officer Subodh Kumar noted that 243 applications were for the country liquor shops and 117 for model shops. The department generated approximately ₹2.7 lakh in revenue through application fees. To attract bidders, the excise department reduced the licence fees for some shops and restructured unsold shops to make them more commercially viable. If successful, the department expects to generate significant revenue, although any failure to deposit the required fees will result in cancellation of the allotment, without affecting overall revenue from existing shops.
