Starting May 7, Ahmedabad will undergo a 10-day water supply reduction affecting five zones: West, Central, North, East, and South. The cut, estimated at 10% to 15%, is due to repair work on the damaged RCC lining of the main Narmada canal, which supplies raw water to the Kotarpur Water Treatment Plant. This plant, which typically processes 1,100 million liters per day (MLD), will experience a shortfall of 50 to 60 MLD daily. Areas such as Paldi, Chandkheda, Sabarmati, Vadaj, Navrangpura, Naranpura, Vasna, and Motera will be particularly affected. To mitigate the impact, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) plans to operate raw water pumps at full capacity and supplement supply through borewells. With temperatures rising, residents may face lower water pressure and shorter supply durations during peak hours. Authorities have urged the public to use water judiciously until normal supply resumes after the repairs are completed.
