In a tragic incident in Kathahi village, Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh, a 26-year-old man named Satyendra Yadav has been arrested for the alleged murder of his 23-year-old wife, Doli. Her body was discovered hanging in her in-laws' home on May 3, with suspicions raised by her family that it was staged to appear as a suicide. Doli's grandfather, Lal Yadav, filed a complaint against Satyendra and seven other relatives, citing ongoing harassment for additional dowry despite an initial payment of ₹7 lakh (approximately $8,400 USD) and gold jewelry at the time of their marriage on November 29, 2025. The police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Dowry Prohibition Act. Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh confirmed that Satyendra was arrested near the Babua Pur road area and has been remanded to jail. The investigation is ongoing, and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
