On April 27, 2026, India transferred two personal watercraft (PWC) to the Sri Lankan Coast Guard at their headquarters in Mirissa, enhancing their near-shore search and rescue (SAR) capabilities. This initiative, part of India's broader commitment to maritime security cooperation, aligns with the government's MAHASAGAR vision, promoting collective growth in the Indian Ocean Region. Additionally, the Indian Navy's INS Nireekshak participated in the 4th India-Sri Lanka Diving Exercise in Colombo, which ran from April 21 to April 27, 2026. This exercise focused on improving interoperability and coordination between the two naval forces through specialized underwater operations.
