Kirti Vardhan Singh (Minister of State for External Affairs) will represent India at the second International Migration Review Forum in New York from May 4-8. This forum serves as a crucial platform for discussing the Global Compact for Migration and its alignment with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event will feature four interactive round tables, a policy debate, and a plenary session where Singh will deliver India's national statement. Additionally, India plans to host a side-event titled ‘Leveraging Digital Innovation in Migration Governance: The e-Migrate Experience of India’. Singh's visit will also include meetings with senior UN officials and ministers from other countries. The Indian government is actively working on promoting safe and legal migration through various initiatives, including the eMigrate portal and upcoming legislation to replace the 1983 Act to combat illegal recruitment.
