The studio cited a lack of audience engagement and the game's failure to achieve long-term sustainability as primary reasons for this decision. Despite the promising concept, the game received mixed reviews, with players reporting bugs and drawing comparisons to older, more polished titles. Quantic Dream announced that the discontinuation would lead to a reorganization of its team, potentially resulting in layoffs, although it assured fans that development on its anticipated project, Star Wars Eclipse, would remain unaffected. The studio emphasized the importance of taking creative risks and acknowledged the challenges of introducing new concepts in a competitive gaming market. Players of Spellcasters Chronicles can expect full refunds, and the game's servers will officially shut down on June 19, 2023.
