On Thursday afternoon, Mohammed Naseem Jameel Ahmed Khan, a 46-year-old truck driver from Chembur, was killed in a hit-and-run incident while changing a tyre on the Mumbai-Panvel stretch of Atal Setu in Navi Mumbai. The accident occurred around 2:30 PM when an unidentified speeding vehicle struck Khan, causing severe injuries to his head, face, abdomen, and legs. He was rushed to MGM Hospital in Kamothe, where he succumbed to his injuries at 4:53 PM. Witness Karan Ramprasad Yadav reported the incident, leading police to register a case against the unidentified driver under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 for negligence and rash driving. Authorities are currently analyzing CCTV footage from the area to locate the vehicle involved. This tragic incident highlights ongoing safety concerns for motorists on busy corridors like Atal Setu, especially when dealing with vehicle breakdowns. In a separate incident that day, another man died after losing control of his scooter on the Mumbai-Goa Highway.
