In Mysuru, H Vishwanath (BJP MLC) sharply criticized the Karnataka state government over the recent spike in Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) results, questioning how such performance could be achieved amid severe teacher shortages and inadequate infrastructure. He pointed out that Yadgir district has a 41% teacher shortage, followed by Ballari with 31% and Bidar with 21%. Vishwanath alleged that the education department's evaluation process was artificially inflating results, as students receive 20 out of 20 in internal assessments and only need 13 marks to pass from the remaining 80. He expressed concern over the implications for students' future learning and the potential for increased dropout rates at the Pre-University College (PUC) level. Additionally, he accused the education minister, Madhu Bangarappa, of mismanagement and highlighted financial irregularities, including a Rs 2,000-crore loan taken from the Asian Development Bank for educational development. Vishwanath also referenced a recent court ruling that criticized the state government's grading system, questioning the rapid implementation of changes in marking.
