The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has finalized Vodafone Idea Limited's adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues at ₹64,046 crore as of December 31, 2025, down from an earlier estimate of ₹87,695 crore. This decision follows the Supreme Court of India's directions to address the company's grievances. The payment will be staggered, with a minimum of ₹100 crore annually over four years starting from FY32, followed by six equal annual installments from FY36 to FY41. This relief comes as Vodafone Idea faces a total debt burden of nearly ₹2 lakh crore. The reduction in dues allows the company to potentially raise fresh funding and invest in network improvements, crucial for competing against larger rivals like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. The government has intervened multiple times to support Vodafone Idea, converting part of its dues into equity, which has made it the largest shareholder with a stake of 48.99%.
