The recent building collapse in Mehrauli, Delhi, has resulted in a death toll of six, as confirmed by local police. Prior to the incident, the police had warned the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) about the building's construction violations, but no measures were taken to address these concerns. In response to the tragedy, Delhi Police have filed a case of culpable homicide and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collapse. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the disaster site and assured that strict action would be enforced against unauthorized constructions and the municipal officers who permitted them. She confirmed that emergency teams are actively searching for any survivors trapped under the debris. Furthermore, a magisterial inquiry will be conducted, led by the District Magistrate of South District, to further investigate the incident and assess the condition of nearby dilapidated buildings.
