Shapoor Zadran, a former Afghan cricketer, is currently battling for his life in a hospital in New Delhi due to stage four Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a rare and life-threatening immune disorder. At just 30 years old, Zadran has played 44 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 36 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for Afghanistan from 2009 to 2020. His family has urgently appealed for A-positive blood donors to assist him during this critical time. Zadran's health has deteriorated since he first fell ill in October last year, leading to his admission to the hospital on January 18, facilitated by the support of fellow cricketer Rashid Khan and the Afghanistan Cricket Board chairman, Mirwais Ashraf. A bone marrow test confirmed his diagnosis of stage four HLH, which causes severe hyperinflammation and damage to vital organs. His brother, Ghamai Zadran, shared an emotional message on social media, urging the public to help their national hero. Despite the severity of his condition, Ghamai expressed hope as recent steroid treatments appear to be effective.
