The Indian Railways is set to launch direct train services connecting Jammu and Srinagar on April 30, 2026. This service, operated by the Vande Bharat Express, is expected to significantly reduce travel time and enhance comfort for passengers traveling between these two important cities. The initiative aims to strengthen connectivity between the Jammu region and the Kashmir Valley, benefiting daily commuters, tourists, and local residents. Officials believe that this direct rail link will not only facilitate passenger movement but also stimulate regional growth by boosting tourism and economic activities. Alongside this new service, the Northern Railway will extend the existing Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express to Jammu Tawi, with a special inaugural run scheduled for the same day. The inaugural train will depart from Jammu Tawi at 10:30 AM, stop briefly at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and arrive in Srinagar at 3:05 PM.
