Punjab Kings’ head of sports science, Andrew Leipus, has said that although he doesn’t follow a lot of social media himself, he knows that there has been a lot of discussion around online activity, adding that there might be a ‘few restrictions’ for Arshdeep Singh physically, which has affected his on-field performance. The team’s fortunes have taken a sharp turn, with five successive losses leaving them in real danger of missing out on the playoffs. PBKS can no longer afford any slip-ups and must win their remaining two games against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants. The dip in form has also come amidst growing social media scrutiny surrounding the Punjab Kings, with Arshdeep finding himself at the centre of the storm. He faced criticism over a Snapchat clip featuring Tilak Varma, in which he called out to him saying, “Oye andhere.” “I don’t follow a lot of social media myself, so I know there has been a bit of chatter behind the scenes of various things going on, vlogging and whatnot. I am not across that,” Leipus said while speaking to the media. “In terms of his behaviour, Arsh is pretty much a flat line. He isn’t up or down. He gives his best out there. We have been working together a little bit and looking at his body, there may be restrictions that could be a reason for some of his performances being up and down,” Leipus added. The PBKS staff said that Arshdeep is still consistent with his behaviour and attitude on and off the field. “He is a very loud person in the dressing room. That has not changed. He isn’t up and down. He is very calm. I am old. I don’t really partake in a lot of social media. You can check my name out there,” Leipus said.
