BJP MLA Mihir Kotecha has raised serious allegations against the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), claiming that it is attempting to reinstate 55 officials to positions that were previously cancelled due to a controversial transfer scandal. This issue resurfaces more than seven months after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis intervened to halt the alleged scam, which involved senior officials reportedly demanding between ₹25 lakh and ₹40 lakh for transfers and promotions. Kotecha pointed out that the new transfer proposal, presented as a routine administrative action, includes many officials assigned to the same roles that were part of the October transfer list cancelled by Fadnavis. He specifically mentioned positions such as deputy chief engineer and assistant commissioners. Kotecha has formally alerted BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide, urging her to take action before any final approvals are made. He noted that approvals for three officials have already been granted, indicating a pressing need to address these allegations. Bhide confirmed receipt of Kotecha's concerns and stated that the matter will be examined thoroughly.
