On Wednesday evening, a 35-year-old tourist from Shirur, Yogesh Mohan Shitole, fell approximately 150 feet into a gorge at Sinhagad Fort in Pune, Maharashtra, while attempting to capture sunset photographs. The incident occurred between 4:30 PM and 5 PM as he ventured towards the western edge of the fort, near a location known as 'Hawa Point.' After losing his footing on the grassy terrain, Shitole fell and lost consciousness. He regained awareness around 7 PM and called the 112 emergency helpline, providing details of his location. A rescue operation was promptly initiated by the Haveli Police Station, led by officer Aniket Kale, in collaboration with a disaster management team. Despite challenging low-light conditions, the team successfully rescued Shitole, who was subsequently taken to a private hospital for medical treatment. Authorities are urging visitors to exercise caution when near cliff edges, particularly during the monsoon season and evening hours when visibility is poor.
