The Maharashtra government has sanctioned ₹396.60 crore (approximately $48 million USD) for the infrastructure development and preparatory work for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela, scheduled for 2027 in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. This significant investment aims to enhance civic infrastructure, including road development, sanitation systems, drinking water supply, and crowd management, to accommodate the anticipated influx of pilgrims and tourists from across India and abroad. The funds will be managed by the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority, which was established to streamline planning and execution of projects related to the event. Previous funding tranches totaling ₹283 crore, ₹717 crore, and ₹501.40 crore were allocated for various preparatory works in 2025-26. The government emphasizes early and structured planning to prevent last-minute challenges experienced in past Kumbh Melas, ensuring that all funds are spent in accordance with financial protocols and transparency measures.
