Abhishek Bachchan, a prominent Bollywood actor and sports entrepreneur, has credited his father, Amitabh Bachchan, for instilling in him a love for sports during his childhood. As one of the co-founders and co-owners of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL), he aims to create a world-class cricket tournament in Europe featuring international stars. The ETPL, set to run from August 26 to September 20, 2026, has gained official sanction from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and is backed by Cricket Ireland, Cricket Scotland, and the Royal Dutch Cricket Association. Abhishek expressed his vision for the league to attract top talent and become a highly anticipated event on the cricket calendar. He emphasized the importance of securing an uninterrupted window for the tournament, minimizing clashes with other leagues like the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The ETPL is expected to feature renowned players such as Glenn Maxwell, Faf du Plessis, and Chris Gayle, providing emerging players from Europe an opportunity to compete alongside cricketing legends.
