A 19-year-old girl, Pooja Malang, was arrested in Assam's West Karbi Anglong district for allegedly beheading her 42-year-old mother, Anumai Malang, with a machete. The incident took place in Deramukh Lalung village early Thursday morning. According to police, Pooja returned home late on Wednesday night, armed with a dao (machete), and attacked her mother, resulting in her death. The girl's father and sister were injured while trying to stop the assault. Police recovered the severed head and the murder weapon from Pooja's possession. She has been charged under Section 103 (murder) and 119 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police are investigating the motive behind the crime, noting that family members did not report any prior disputes between Pooja and her mother. Pooja is undergoing a medical examination, and authorities are working to record her statement as part of the ongoing investigation.
