On Saturday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organized a protest at the Clock Tower in Ludhiana, Punjab, opposing the recent hikes in LPG cylinder prices. The protest was led by MLAs Ashok Parashar Pappi and Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal, alongside other senior party members. AAP leaders criticized the BJP-led Central government for increasing the financial burden on households and small businesses due to rising fuel prices. They highlighted a significant increase in the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder, which has risen by ₹993 in the latest revision, following previous hikes of ₹195.50 on April 1 and ₹114.50 on March 1, totaling over ₹1,300 in just three months. While domestic LPG prices have remained mostly stable, a ₹60 increase was noted for a 14.2-kg household cylinder earlier this year. AAP leaders argued that the government should have taken measures to alleviate the financial strain on citizens, especially given the global uncertainties affecting energy prices.

The rising LPG prices could lead to increased operational costs for small businesses, particularly in the hospitality sector, potentially resulting in higher prices for consumers.
