Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party, expressed skepticism regarding the recent cabinet expansion by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh, questioning its relevance with only nine months remaining in the current government’s term. He labeled the regime as 'corrupt' and criticized its track record over the past nine years, asserting that it has achieved nothing beneficial for the state's residents. Yadav claimed that the BJP has exacerbated issues like corruption, inflation, and unemployment, and he predicted that the newly appointed ministers would perpetuate these problems. He highlighted failures in key welfare initiatives, including the Jal Jeevan Mission, and accused the government of misappropriating funds intended for public services. Furthermore, Yadav criticized the installation of smart electricity meters, alleging that they primarily benefit industrialists at the expense of consumers. He also alleged that the BJP has undermined reservation policies for government jobs, infringing on citizens' constitutional rights. Emphasizing the unity of backward classes, Dalits, and minorities under the Samajwadi Party's PDA strategy, Yadav expressed confidence that this coalition would successfully counter the BJP's perceived injustices and reclaim rights and dignity for these communities.
