The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to implement stricter access control rules for players participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Vice President Rajeev Shukla announced that these regulations aim to enhance discipline and ensure compliance with tournament protocols. The new rules will prevent unauthorized individuals from meeting players in hotels, team buses, and other restricted areas, thereby improving transparency and security during the tournament. This decision follows concerns raised by BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia regarding multiple 'anomalies and irregularities' observed this season, including unauthorized access to team hotels and interactions between franchise officials and players in restricted zones. Saikia emphasized the seriousness of these breaches and stated that a formal advisory will be issued to all franchises, warning of stringent actions for future violations. Earlier in the season, the IPL had already seen disciplinary actions, such as fines imposed on Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag for vaping in the dressing room and the team's manager for using a mobile phone near the dugout.
