Mediacom Communications has announced the launch of its 5-Gig Internet service, marking the fastest residential speed tier offered by the company. This new service is currently available to over 500,000 homes across multiple states, including Alabama, California, and Florida, with plans to extend availability to over one million homes by the end of the year. The service is made possible through Mediacom's advanced fiber-rich network, which enhances speed and performance without significant construction. JR Walden, Mediacom's Chief Technology Officer, emphasized the company's investment in building a robust network that spans more than one million fiber miles. The 5-Gig service utilizes next-generation DOCSIS technology, enhanced by artificial intelligence, to ensure reliable connectivity. Additionally, all Gigabit tiers come with Wi-Fi 7 powered by eero, providing seamless connectivity for activities like gaming and 4K streaming. Mediacom's Chairman and CEO, Giuseppe B. Commisso, highlighted the company's commitment to delivering high-speed connectivity to smaller markets across America.
