MediaTek has announced the release of the Dimensity 7450 and 7450X chipsets, which serve as successors to the previous Dimensity 7400 series. Unlike a typical generational upgrade, these new models focus on connectivity enhancements and minor performance improvements. Both chipsets utilize the same octa-core architecture, featuring 4 Cortex-A78 cores at 2.6 GHz and 4 Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz, along with the Mali-G615 MC2 GPU. However, MediaTek emphasizes a 7% increase in AI performance, particularly beneficial for photography applications. The most significant upgrade is the integration of the 5G R17 modem, which replaces the older R16, promising better power efficiency and a 20% performance boost during transit. Additionally, the Dimensity 7450X supports dual-display configurations, making it suitable for budget-friendly foldable smartphones. The first devices powered by these chipsets are expected to launch in the next few months.
