On May 22, a Ukrainian drone attack targeted a college in Starobelsk, located in the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), resulting in injuries to 36 children. According to Inna Shvenk, the regional children’s rights commissioner, nine of the injured children have been hospitalized, with three in grave condition. The attack occurred while 86 children, aged between 14 and 18, were present at the college. Tragically, four individuals have been confirmed dead, and 39 people sustained injuries in the incident. Eighteen families are currently awaiting updates from the ongoing search and rescue operations, as there are concerns that around 18 students and instructors may still be trapped beneath the rubble of the dormitory. LPR head Leonid Pasechnik reported that drones were employed in the assault, highlighting the escalating violence in the region. The situation remains dire as rescue efforts continue, and the community grapples with the aftermath of this tragic event.
