Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the launch of the 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan' campaign, set to begin on June 1, aimed at promoting the balanced use of fertilisers and encouraging natural farming practices among farmers across India. This initiative was unveiled during the National Kharif Conference, which saw participation from agriculture ministers of 20 states. Notably, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, a proponent of natural farming, presented on the topic, marking the first time a state Governor participated in such a conference. In addition to promoting sustainable farming, the Ministry of Agriculture is also adopting energy-saving measures in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for reduced fuel consumption. Officials have been instructed to turn off unnecessary lights and limit the use of air conditioning, with some senior officials leading by example by using minimal lighting and cooling systems in their offices. The campaign and energy-saving measures reflect the government's commitment to sustainable practices in agriculture and energy conservation.
