The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has recorded a significant victory in the recent local body elections in Haryana, winning a majority of the seats across multiple municipalities. In Ambala, the BJP triumphed in 16 out of 20 wards, while the Congress secured three and an Independent candidate won one. In Panchkula, the BJP won 17 out of 20 wards, with the Congress claiming just one and Independent candidates taking two. The BJP's mayoral candidates, Akshita Saini in Ambala and Shyam Lal Bansal in Panchkula, both secured their positions. However, in Sonipat, while the BJP's Rajiv Jain won the mayoral post, the Congress performed strongly, winning 17 of the 22 wards. The BJP also maintained its influence in Rewari and Dharuhera, winning key chairperson positions despite Independent candidates dominating ward elections. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attributed the results to growing public trust in the government, while Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda acknowledged an improved performance compared to previous elections.
