Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken a significant step towards promoting austerity by choosing to ride a Royal Enfield Classic 350 motorcycle instead of using a convoy of cars. This decision aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent appeal to citizens to reduce fuel consumption due to rising global fuel costs. Fadnavis shared images of his ride to Vidhan Bhavan, where he attended the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected legislative council members. He was accompanied by BJP leader Ashish Shelar, while security personnel followed on Bajaj Pulsar 220 motorcycles. Fadnavis emphasized the importance of lifestyle changes for the nation, echoing Modi's austerity message. The Royal Enfield Classic 350, a popular model in India, is priced between ₹1.85 lakh and ₹2.21 lakh (approximately $2,200 to $2,600 USD), featuring a 349 cc engine that produces 20 hp of power and 27 Nm of torque. This initiative reflects a growing trend among politicians to adopt more austere measures.
