Gaurav Kumar, a 42-year-old resident of Amritsar, has been arrested in Dehradun for allegedly posing as Rahul Gandhi's secretary to defraud Congress leaders across various states out of significant sums of money. Kumar reportedly collected ₹25 lakh (approximately $30,000 USD) from Bhavana Pandey, a Congress leader, by promising her a senior party position. He used a fake Truecaller account to impersonate Kanishk Singh, Gandhi's former secretary, and even played recordings of voices he claimed were top Congress leaders to convince his victims. Following a complaint filed by Pandey on May 3, police arrested Kumar while he was attempting to defraud another Congress office-bearer. Investigators have linked him to previous fraud cases dating back several years, with allegations of defrauding leaders in Jaipur and Patna. Authorities suspect that more victims may exist, as Kumar's fraudulent activities targeted Congress leaders in states such as Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar.
