In a remarkable achievement, all 25 students from the Red Cross School for the Blind and the Helen Keller Red Cross School for the Deaf in Ganjam district, Odisha, cleared the Class 10 state board examination, securing a 100% pass rate. The Red Cross School for the Blind has maintained this impressive record for the past 43 years. This year, 12 visually impaired students, including three girls, passed the exam, with two students achieving a B1 grade by scoring above 70%. The school, established in 1974, has developed robust infrastructure and utilizes Braille textbooks for teaching. Students dictate their answers to junior writers during exams. The government has also enhanced accessibility by providing Braille textbooks free of cost. The Helen Keller Red Cross School for the Deaf has similarly achieved a 100% pass rate for the last 30 years. Graduates from these schools are now working in various sectors, and many students plan to continue their education.
