The Uttar Pradesh government has announced the establishment of 12 mega skill hubs and 63 district skill centres under the 'Sardar Patel Employment & Industrial Zones' initiative. This ambitious project, with an investment of ₹14,760 crore (approximately $1.77 billion USD), aims to connect the state's youth with employment-oriented skills. The government targets to provide advanced training to over 10 lakh (1 million) youth annually, focusing on both traditional and modern skills, including robotics, data analytics, and digital marketing.

The initiative will utilize a 'Hub & Spoke' model, where mega hubs will be located in major cities such as Lucknow, Kanpur, and Varanasi, while district centres will serve as local training facilities. This model is designed to ensure that skill development reaches every district, aligning with local needs and promoting initiatives like One District One Product (ODOP).

The project will also integrate industrial development, providing not only technical training but also soft skills, language training, and digital literacy. The private sector will play a crucial role in the operations and training, supported by government funding for the first five years to ensure sustainability. Additionally, modern infrastructure, including internet and recreational facilities, will be developed at these centres to enhance the overall training environment.
