Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that the recruitment process would commence immediately with the issuance of notifications. This decision comes after years of demands for internal reservation and follows a consensus reached at a Scheduled Castes convention. The initial proposal of 17% reservation for SCs was reduced to 15% due to judicial constraints stemming from the Indra Sawhney case, which upheld a 50% cap on total reservations. The Cabinet's decision was unanimous, with no dissent among ministers. The previous 6-6-5 formula will be replaced with this new structure, and the six percent held aside due to court intervention will remain as a backlog until a final verdict is delivered. Recruitment will proceed within the 50% ceiling until then.
