India is looking forward to a visit from a U.S. trade team for the next round of negotiations regarding the Broader Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA). An Indian official confirmed that while no dates have been set, the expectation follows a recent meeting in Washington, D.C. in April, where both sides discussed critical areas including market access, non-tariff measures, and digital trade. The countries had previously issued a joint statement on February 7, outlining a framework for an interim trade agreement. In the last fiscal year, India's exports to the U.S. saw a modest increase of 0.92%, reaching $87.3 billion, while imports rose significantly by 15.95% to $52.9 billion. This resulted in a decline in the trade surplus from $40.89 billion in 2024-25 to $34.4 billion in 2025-26.
