Members of the Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) in Chennai have expressed concerns regarding the limitations in bulk train ticket bookings under Indian Railways. Currently, a person can book up to six tickets under a single Passenger Name Record (PNR) but is restricted to selecting only one boarding station for all passengers. This poses challenges when group members wish to board from different locations, such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Tiruvallur, or Arakkonam. K Bhaskar, a DRUCC member, emphasized that allowing multiple boarding points would significantly improve the travel experience. He noted that recent policy changes, such as permitting passengers to modify their boarding station up to 30 minutes before departure, indicate that greater flexibility is possible. Railway officials acknowledged that the issue has not been widely raised before and stated that any changes would require a policy decision at the national level. Currently, passengers may sometimes request the Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) for exceptions, but this is not a guaranteed solution.
