Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya has been sidelined due to a back injury, missing the last two matches of the IPL 2026 season. The team, currently in ninth place with just six points, has been eliminated from playoff contention after suffering eight losses in eleven matches. South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch expressed that Pandya's absence is felt within the dressing room, stating, “It’s obviously been tough. Hardik is not only a leader, but a fantastic cricketer as well.” MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene confirmed that the medical team is working on Pandya's recovery, as he has not been able to train recently. Despite the challenges, Bosch noted that the team must continue to play and adapt. Last season, MI finished fourth and reached the playoffs, but their current performance starkly contrasts with their previous success.
