The Barbados Royals will be rebranded as the Barbados Tridents, returning to the franchise's original name and national colors of blue and yellow. This change is part of a three-year partnership with the Barbados government, which will become a minority co-investor. The initiative, known as 'One Barbados', seeks to enhance national pride and cricketing heritage as Barbados celebrates its 60th year of independence. Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley emphasized the significance of cricket in the nation's identity, stating that the rebranding reflects confidence and ambition. The Tridents have a history of success, with two Caribbean Premier League (CPL) titles in 2014 and 2019, and are looking to improve their standing after finishing last in the previous season. The 2026 CPL season will commence on August 8, with the Tridents' first match against the Jamaica Kingsmen on August 11. Additionally, the franchise plans to host a 'Pink Promise' charity match during the season to support local causes.
