Ahead of International Labour Day on May 1, Gautam Buddha Nagar Police in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, has invoked Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, to ban unlawful assemblies from April 30 to May 8. This decision follows a significant protest by factory workers on April 13. The police have deployed over 1,700 personnel, including officers from various ranks, to ensure security across the district. The area has been divided into 11 zones and 49 sectors, with drone surveillance at more than 50 locations and continuous CCTV monitoring.
