K.T. Rama Rao (working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samiti, BRS) has accused the Congress government in Telangana of neglecting farmers by failing to implement the 34 promises made in the Warangal Farmers’ Declaration over the past two-and-a-half years. During a gathering of party activists and farmers at the ‘Rythu Sangrama Sadassu’ on May 6, 2026, he criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for betraying farmers and highlighted the delays in procuring paddy and other crops. The BRS meeting passed four resolutions, including demands for financial assistance for families of deceased farmers, immediate implementation of promises, unconditional procurement of all crops, a ₹500 (approximately $6 USD) bonus per quintal of paddy, and clearance of pending Rythu Bharosa payments along with a full loan waiver up to ₹2 lakh (roughly $2,400 USD). Rao warned that if the government does not honor its commitments, public protests would ensue. The meeting was attended by several prominent BRS leaders, who echoed Rao's sentiments regarding the Congress's failure to support farmers.
