The Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura's Sepahijala district has begun the process of handing over the bodies of two suspected Bangladeshi smugglers, Nabir Hussain (40) and Md. Mursalin (22), who were killed during a confrontation on the India-Bangladesh border. The incident occurred when BSF personnel, on routine patrol, discovered the smugglers allegedly attempting to transport fish fingerlings illegally across the border. Despite warnings from the BSF, the smugglers reportedly retaliated by throwing stones at the troops. In response to the escalating situation and in self-defense, BSF personnel fired their Pump Action Guns, injuring both individuals. They were promptly taken to government hospitals but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries. After post-mortem examinations, the bodies have been kept in the hospital mortuary as the BSF coordinates with Bangladeshi authorities for their handover.
