Under the supervision of municipal commissioner Naval Kishore Ram and additional municipal commissioner Omprakash Divate, the operation targeted unauthorized structures along the road. A total of 11,500 square meters of commercial and 1,410 square meters of residential encroachments were removed, including nine two-storeyed buildings and various stalls. The demolition involved significant machinery and personnel, including six JCB machines and 25 laborers. Divate emphasized the importance of the road-widening project for improving connectivity on one of Pune’s busiest routes. The initiative is part of a larger plan to develop a 50-meter-wide road, contributing to an 84-meter development plan. Compensation has been declared for affected property owners, and the project will enhance the corridor with additional infrastructure such as service roads and stormwater drains.
