The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is moving forward with plans for a second airport in Warangal, Telangana, which will feature a 2.5-km runway and a modern terminal designed to accommodate 850 passengers at peak times. The AAI has initiated the process to select a consultant for obtaining environmental clearance, with an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to be completed within six months. The terminal will cover 6,800 square meters, offering a range of passenger facilities including self-service check-in kiosks, baggage systems, and dedicated areas for security screening. Special attention will be given to accessibility, ensuring that passengers with disabilities are supported with features like tactile flooring and ramps. Additionally, the airport's design will reflect Warangal's cultural heritage through the incorporation of local art and themes, showcasing the region's identity. AAI aims to ensure that the airport meets all safety and operational standards while enhancing passenger comfort and efficiency.
