Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPI) in Ahmedabad is set to construct a new air traffic control (ATC) tower that will stand at 93 meters, making it the second tallest in India, following the 103-meter tower at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. This new structure will be located behind the existing Airports Authority of India (AAI) office and is part of the airport's 2030 Development Plan, which aims to enhance passenger capacity and infrastructure. The design of the tower is culturally significant, resembling a woman's hand reaching towards the sky, adorned with bangles, while its base reflects the ghaghra, a traditional garment in Gujarat. The existing ATC tower will be decommissioned as part of the expansion plans, allowing for the construction of a new integrated terminal to accommodate increasing passenger volumes. The project has received the necessary approvals from both the AAI and the ministry.
