Dundonald Park, one of Ottawa's oldest parks, is slated for a significant revitalization project, which will commence in summer 2027. The initiative, spearheaded by Somerset Ward Councillor Ariel Troster, has a budget of $500,000 sourced from ward cash-in-lieu funds. Local residents, including Regena Ash, have expressed excitement about the project, emphasizing the need for improved connectivity between the park's splash pad and playground. Ash noted safety concerns regarding children navigating between these areas. Troster has launched a survey to gather community input on desired improvements, stating, "It’s kind of like carte blanche." Residents have also raised concerns about safety due to drug paraphernalia found in the park, underscoring the importance of enhancing park amenities. Troster believes that increasing programming and activities will foster a safer and more inviting environment. Suggestions from the community include creating event spaces for activities such as movie nights and live performances, aimed at drawing more visitors to the park.
