During the peak tourist season, Shimla Police reported managing an influx of approximately 7.8 lakh vehicles over the past 29 days without significant traffic congestion. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abhishek highlighted that effective traffic management strategies, including the deployment of mobile traffic riders and the establishment of five sectors for monitoring, played a crucial role in maintaining smooth traffic flow. The police urged tourists to utilize the Shoghi-Mehli Bypass, which has been positively received, seeing 800 to 900 vehicles daily, thus reducing pressure on the city center. To enhance visitor experiences, the police have also leveraged social media to provide route guidance, particularly for navigating to popular sites like Jakhu Temple. Despite the added challenge of simultaneous Panchayat elections, the police ensured efficient traffic management, receiving support from NCC and civic volunteers. The ASP reassured both residents and tourists of their preparedness to handle the ongoing tourist season's challenges, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in adhering to traffic regulations.
