On October 17, 2024, a tragic road traffic collision in Eltham Road, London, resulted in the death of a heavily pregnant woman and her unborn child. The 38-year-old woman was driving when her car collided with an unmarked police vehicle. She succumbed to her injuries in the hospital after her baby died at the scene. Following the incident, the Crown Prosecution Service authorized charges against two police officers. Metropolitan Police officer Chris Johnson, 56, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, while former officer Danny Tomkins, 35, faces a charge of dangerous driving.
