A Delhi court has ordered the police to take Rahul Kumar Meena, a 23-year-old former household employee, into custody for four days as he is accused of the rape and murder of an IIT graduate in Kailash Hills, South Delhi. Judicial magistrate Deepika Thakran described the allegations as involving an exceptionally serious and brutal crime. During the court proceedings, Meena stated, “I made a mistake. I did it for money,” indicating that he sought the victim's fingerprint to access a locker. The police argued that his custody is necessary to recover stolen items, including the victim's mobile phone, and to identify accomplices. The victim, an aspiring civil servant, was discovered by her parents after they returned from the gym. Meena was arrested from a hotel in Dwarka, Delhi, and faces charges under sections related to rape, murder, and robbery. The court has also ordered a medical examination for Meena, who reportedly sustained injuries during the incident.
