In a recent address, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy criticized the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for its past financial management, stating that his government is repaying ₹95,000 crore in loans and liabilities inherited from the BRS while borrowing around ₹70,000 crore annually. Reddy urged BRS MLA T. Harish Rao to acknowledge these debts instead of ignoring them. He assured that the Congress government is borrowing within the limits set by the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Act, with a stated borrowing requirement of ₹54,000 crore. Reddy also publicly challenged Rao to declare his loyalty to the BRS, suggesting that political ties between the BJP and BRS may develop in the future. He mentioned that two cases against the BRS have been referred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) based on preliminary evidence. Reddy expressed his commitment to active politics in Telangana until at least 2034, highlighting a successful partnership with TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, who may have a larger role in national politics if Congress gains power at the Centre.
