Bhopal Metro, which has faced continuous financial losses since commencing operations, is attempting to generate additional revenue through a new initiative called 'Celebration on Wheels.' This program allows individuals and event organizers to rent Metro coaches and designated station areas for various events, including birthday parties and film shoots. Despite the innovative approach, the initiative has seen limited success, with only two bookings in Indore and a cancelled event in Bhopal. The Metro's operations, limited to a 7 km stretch with eight stations, have not attracted the anticipated passenger numbers, leading to a significant imbalance between income and expenses. To further bolster revenue, MPMRCL is also offering commercial leasing opportunities at stations, with substantial space available at Board Office Chauraha and Subhash Nagar stations. The first segment of the Metro's Phase 1, inaugurated in December 2025, is part of a larger plan that includes two lines totaling approximately 29 km, with full completion expected by 2028.
