Samsung Electronics has officially adopted the European Union's Code of Conduct (CoC) for interoperability and Energy Smart Appliances (ESAs). This initiative, developed by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre and Directorate-General for Energy, aims to enhance the efficiency of household energy use by promoting connected appliances that work seamlessly with energy systems. Hyesoon Yang, Executive Vice President for Samsung's Digital Appliances New Biz Team, stated that the company believes these connected appliances can significantly aid in the energy transition without complicating everyday life. Samsung's registered appliances in the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) will support features like Optimal Scheduling, allowing users to operate devices during off-peak hours. The SmartThings Energy app will enable consumers to monitor and manage their energy consumption. Samsung plans to expand its lineup of compliant products, contributing to more efficient energy use across Europe, where peak-time pricing is applicable.
