On Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a changeover ceremony for the commander of the 401st Armored Brigade, appointing Col. Yoav Schneider to replace Col. Meir Biderman. This transition comes as Biderman is recuperating from injuries inflicted by a Hezbollah drone attack on May 20. The changeover had been scheduled prior to the attack that left Biderman wounded. Following his recovery, Biderman will transition to the IDF's Operations Directorate, where he will oversee the division's planning department. He has held the command since taking over from Col. Ehsan Daxa, who was killed during combat with Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip in October 2024. The ceremony was held at the IDF Northern Command headquarters and was attended by several senior officers, including Northern Command Chief Maj.-Gen. Rafi Milo and Southern Command Chief Maj.-Gen. Yaniv Asor, along with other commanders, soldiers, and family members. The IDF confirmed that another reservist officer was also injured in the drone attack that targeted Biderman.
